Location: Somerset, South West
GBP 85,000 - GBP 95,000 package

This is no ordinary job. The Financial Controller is central to the understanding and direction of the business. The organisation is rebuilding to deliver excellent results and they require someone who achieves, inspires and is an integral part of their strong leadership team

You will be fully engaged with the business, analysing and challenging the way things are done. You will naturally go to `where the action is` to fully understand issues and provide fast and effective direction to management activity

Of course, there is a `day job` and you will be responsible for on time reporting, compliance, forecasts and planning. But you will put specific emphasis on developing your reports to enable you and the senior management team to concentrate on leading and stimulating growth

The Role

Responsible for the safeguarding and ethical accounting of all assets in accordance with specific accounting principles. You will develop and administer the overall accounting function with the business strategy. You will act as a business partner to the General Manager and provide business advice and guidance to the senior management team to ensure the achievement of Group and Corporate goals. The organisation operates across several manufacturing sites in the UK and Europe

Additional responsibilities will include:
Manage the timely reporting of the following, monthly, quarterly, annually as appropriate:
Financial statements; Forecasts; Financial analysis against plan; Monthly Executive Conference Reports; Statistical reports; Tax and statutory reports; planning process; Cost & management accounting data
Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements including compliance with Sarbanes Oxley throughout UK & European locations
Ensure policies are reviewed and implemented in line with Group and Corporate requirements.
Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions
Utilise trend and forecasting tools to help Group management identify trends and then lead / guide corrective actions where necessary
Work with senior managers to develop business plans for the Group from the Strategic Deployment process
Develop departmental plans to support the achievement of Annual Improvement Priorities and Group Targets & Goals
Provide education to department managers to ensure that key Group financial information is understood, assist them with their financial decision making and provide financial policy orientation training to new employees as required
Design, establish, and maintain an organisational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department`s goals and objectives
Manage department staff learning and development needs utilising performance plans and performance reviews, taking corrective actions where employee performance is below expectations
Identify potential candidates for acquisition, prepare acquisition valuation models and presentations, perform due diligence, negotiate purchase agreement; develop financial and budget policies and procedures for acquired businesses.
Assist with engagement of Sales Companies in terms of communication channels, reporting and controls
Maintain and develop lean accounting processes
Act as the Group champion for all Compliance matters, ensuring appropriate training, briefing and awareness as well as verifying compliance with corporate policies

The Person

Qualified Accountant ACMA / ACCA or international equivalent
Focused on financial metrics that are relevant to the business, applies critical analysis and questions constantly the validity of measures
Several years experience of managing a Finance team in a manufacturing environment within a multi-national corporate organisation
Customer focused in terms of continual review of process and data to ensure it meets the needs of line managers to help them be more effective, ensure that indicators are flagged to enable the business to be proactive to its financial performance and at least enable the business to be reactive to financial / market trends
Sound demonstrable knowledge of management and cost accounting

The Package

The company are offering a salary of c GBP60,000 - GBP70,000p.a. + full relocation package + 6% bonus + GBP6,000p.a. car allowance + comprehensive pension scheme + family healthcare + the opportunity to join a world leading organisation
