Job Title: Occupational Therapist
Job Type: Part-Time (30 hours per week)
Salary: £20,198 per annum (pro-rata'd based on a 37½ hour week) (£10.36 per hour)

Duration: Fixed Term (until January 2014) initially - Maternity Cover
The hours worked will be 30 hours per week predominantly between Monday and Friday. Some planned early morning, evening and weekend work will be required.
Shilhay Community is a forward-thinking, not-for-profit independent charity in Exeter, who has been working with people who are homeless and vulnerably housed since 1967. Our purpose is to enable people who are homeless or vulnerably housed to access and sustain accommodation, training and employment in order to improve their quality of life. We operate Gabriel House, Exeter's primary residential resettlement project for single homeless men and couples, alongside Exeter's Street Homeless Outreach Team (SHOT) and a further four city-based accommodation projects.
This post will be based at Gabriel House, which accommodates up to 45 people, including couples. Every resident (customer) has a dedicated Support Co-ordinator, who works closely with the Occupational Therapist and Occupational Therapy Assistant to deliver an effective Support Plan that includes the provision of meaningful occupation, education, training and employment opportunities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for;
* working as part of a team that provides support services, focusing on the direct and occupational needs and aspirations of customers.
* supporting customers to identify their support needs and aspirations and to assist Support Co-ordinators to plan, implement and evaluate individual Support Plans.
* providing activities in line with customer Support Plans and give time to Shilhay customers in order to promote their recovery and to assist helping them to build their own positive support networks.
Candidates will need a patient and calm professional manner and a fair and non-discriminatory, non-judgemental approach. A degree in Occupational Therapy is essential, as is a proven experience of working with and managing a caseload of customers who are difficult to engage. Good I.T., administration and communication skills are also essential. HPC registration is desirable.
